Let’s get this one out of the way first.  The 3rd annual 2013 American Rocksports Challenge was hands down the best one yet. Some say three times a charm, we think after last weekend’s race that saying clearly has merit. What made this years American Rocksports Challenge so much better than years past? It’s hard to point to just one thing, but amazing  drivers, perfect rock/short course track layout, and literally bumper to bumper action all immediately come to mind.

When the dust settled, it was Rick Mooneyham with his Nitto sponsored Ultra4 racer that showed exactly what it took to take top honors. The field was so close, drivers had no room for error. Whether you got stuck on the rocks for just a moment or two, slowed down to let your rig cool off, or change a tire mid run, anything outside of a perfect multi-lap run would cost you the title. That’s where Rick’s lap-after-lap consistency paid off. He had this course down, a didn’t let off the throttle. Congrats to Rick and his entire team for a well deserved victory.

We have more Ultra4 action heading our way. This weekend marks the 3rd annual American Rocksports Challenge, a rock field / short course style endurance race that has always delivered last minute podium surprises. Some details to help get you through the weekend.

Where: Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT.

When: July 13th, 2013, with the first heat at 9am.
