And there you have it. Here’s our small photo set, via Flickr, from Saturday’s Compressor Creek run with the Petersen’s 2012 Ultimate Adventure. Next up, Badlands Ultra4 action tomorrow at 7pm! Stay tuned for details, we’re heading out in just a few hours.

This 1942 Willys MB came all the way out from Chile to ride in this year’s Ultimate Adventure. Owner and builder Sebastian Varas clearly has an eye for detail, as evidence by his creation and restoration here. His spotter, Gonzalo Bravo, also made the trip out. Gonzalo is best know for breaking the 2007 World Altitude Record, reaching 22,000 ft with his Suzuki Samurai. Clearly the two make for a great team, as they conquered the trails of Ultimate Adventure without fail. That, and they were also a blast to hang out with.

Here’s a shot of Rick Péwé, navigating his way though Saturday’s Ultimate Adventure trail run. Being the editor-in-chief of the largest-circulation 4×4 magazine in the world certainly has its advantages, but make no mistake. Pulling an event together like Ultimate Adventure is no easy task. Coordinating trails, camp sights, & drivers meetings for eight days straight takes hard work, dedication, & experience. By the last day there was simply no doubt on anyone’s mind. Rick Péwé knocked it out of the park and, with the help of the entire Petersen’s staff, pulled off one of the best Ultimate Adventures yet.

We’ve actually lost count how many times Chris Durham wheeled Ultimate Adventure. He’s a UA regular, and this year he brought out his newly build Jeep pickup. From what we could see, the rig conquered the trails of Idaho with ease. We took this shot right as Chris was squeezing underneath a fallen tree, near the end of Compressor Creek.

It’s rare to build a rig as radical as the one above and not fight gremlins on the maiden voyage. These common new build bugs didn’t plague Fred Williams and his Spider 9 powered Ultimate Adventure JK though. Eight days of hard wheeling and his new machine drove home without a single broken part. So very awesome.
